Week 2 beginning to film

Image
This was our second week of filming. Me and my partner Courtney and Theresa were able to get on the field this week. We completed all of the shots we needed for our movie opener this week. We did not have any issues either. We worked and planned out our day of filming very well. We made sure we would be able to get on the field by having an administrator take us out to the field and unlocked all the gates for us. We  had all the equipment we needed set up such as cleats, gloves, balls, and bats. The weather and the lighting was perfect for our day of filming as well. 1. The first to pictures we got from filming this week are me and Theresa fielding a ground ball and throwing ball to first. These shots play a big role in our movie opener because the majority of the film is Peter and I playing baseball. Courtney took these photos while filming also. 2.  These 3 photos are shots we took of me catching while Theresa pitches. These are also shots featured in our movie...

Week 1 beginning to film

Image
Me and my group decided to start filming this week. We took a few simple clips of us walking up to the field and getting warmed up before the practice. This is Courtney taking a picture of me and Theresa walking out to the baseball field which will be the first scene of our movie opener. This was taken at the entrance gate to the baseball field. The first issue was faced because the gates were locked so we could not get closer to the field so we did it as close as possible. We then  decided to film the scenes of me and Theresa putting on  our cleats which will be a close up shot for our movie opener. We did these outside by the field. The next shot that we filmed is me and Theresa stretching and getting ready to play catch with each other. Courtney got good angles and good lighting of us on the field. The picture above is a picture of Courtney filming us while we started to stretch. This is going to be the fourth clip in our movie film. Today we faced the challenge...

Initial Storyboard

Me, Courtney, and Theresa first decided to make the plot of what the movie would be so then we can decide what the intro would show. We decided that the movie would be about Theresa and Peter, the two baseball players, and the path of going from high school baseball to college baseball at Florida Gulf Coast University. Our movie would be about Theresa and Peters experience at FGCU and playing a college sport. We all agreed on naming the movie "The Next Level". Then we started planning our movie intro. We all said that it should start with Peter and Theresa at their high school and that the intro would show how they got to play at college.  The first clip would be Peter and Theresa walking to the field and getting ready. There will be an establishing shown to give off where the setting is at. The next clip will be in the dugout and shows all of our equipment. We will use close ups to make it dramatic and a high angle shot to make sure the angle fit all of the equipment in th...

Semester Exam - Film Opening Analysis of Black Mirror (season3, episode 4, San Junipero)

The movie Black Mirror had very much of film elements in the first 5 minutes. A lot goes on in so  little time. There are only 3 main characters shown in the scenes, but to me it seems like they are going to play a big role throughout the movie. Movie seems very organized and helps me get an idea of how exactly the movie will play out. Each film element that is displayed just adds another addition to make the movie better. The first film element that is displayed well is sound. The movie starts off with a lady walking down an alley looking very much confused and you can just hear many different voices and sounds all around but at a very low tone. You can quickly realize that this girl might be scared or worried about something and there is so much going on in her head at one time. Once the scene is switched into the club, more sound is displayed with the background 80s music being played while others dance and talk with one another. The musical tone is then lowered when the two g...

Film opening research #2- The Main Event

How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film?  There is only one title displayed during the opening sequence of the film. It says The Main Event and has a wrestling ring in the background with fans watching. What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?  A young boy and a grown man. What connotations do the images carry?  This  leaves people confused on why a grown man is fighting against a little boy because that seems unfair. How is genre reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the outset?  The genre is reinforced because his shows the boy using his imagination of him being the greatest the WWE wrestler of all time. He even wears a costume and realizes his mask might give him super powers. How does the film establish an enigma from the outset?  The film establishes an enigma from the outset because it shows the boy beating up the man but is woken from his sleep by his mom and notices it was al...
